The Yearling Restaurant was first open in 1952, just down the road from Marjorie Kinan Rawlings home in Cross Creek. The restaruant was named after her novel. Her home still stands in Cross Creek and is open to vistors. We have tried to capture the flavor and spirit of old Florida, as she portrayed it her books. Please stop by and sample old Florida, as it was. You can enjoy the sights and cusine today just as they were, in the early 1900's.

The Yearling Restaurant is located in Cross Creek, just 14 miles from Gainesville and 25 miles from Ocala. Cross Creek connects Orange Lake to the south and Loclossa Lake to the north. Both lakes offer freshwater fishing at its best. Wildlife abounds around the restaurant. The Ocala National Forest is just to the south and west of the restaurant. The highway to the restaurant has been named a Florida Secnic Highway.
